What are Retinal Diseases?
The retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) is a layer of pigmented cells between the visual retinal cells, called photoreceptors, and the blood vessels at the back of the eye. The RPE provides essential support to the retinal photoreceptors and is critical for normal vision. Deterioration of the RPE plays a central role in the progression of diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and sub-types of retinitis pigmentosa. These conditions are associated with a progressive loss of vision that often leads to blindness. RPE-like cells are derived from embryonic cells which are identified by their characteristic black pigment which exhibit multiple biological properties and genetic markers that define authentic RPE cells. The cells successfully delay deterioration of retinal structure and function when transplanted into the eye. Cellebration is advancing the technology to treat blindness related to retinal degeneration.
Treatment for Retinal Diseases at Cellebration Life Sciences, Inc.
At Cellebration, we have mastered the technology for isolating the maximum number of viable stem cells from either the autologous sources of your own body or allogeneic with a matched donor to treat various patients with Retinal Diseases. We are a licensed, private organization with a highly technologically equipped specialized facility under development designed to isolate and enrich the viable cell stems which will be infused into the patient. Stem cell treatment for Retinal Diseases involves administration of concentrated cells in the targeted area to form colonies, adapt the properties of resident stem cells and initiate some of the lost functions that have been compromised by the disease or injury. These cells are administered through one of two methods after a considerable analysis of the patient’s unique history and medical professional’s advice.
- Local Administration:- In this mode, cells are infused directly at the targeted site of injury, which in the case of Retinal Diseases , are infused directly into the site.
- Intravenous Administration:- In this mode, cells are infused through the veins to expand blood volumes in the system, to ensure that the maximum number of cells reach the targeted area.
Once infused back in the body, these cells can be repopulated at the damaged parts of the organ. Through their strong paracrine effects, they differentiate into lost or damaged cells. Thus with our standardized, broad based and holistic approach, it is now possible to obtain noticeable improvements in patients with Retinal Diseases for symptoms as well as their functional abilities.
