What are Adult Mesenchymal Stem Cells?

Various types of stem cells may be found in various organs of the body. Adult mesenchymal stem cells (AMSC) have gained great attention for orthopedics because of their capacity to differentiate into bone, cartilage, and muscle. The two most common sources for these cells are bone marrow and adipose tissue (fat). Utilizing specialized protocols and individualizing treatment the medical team at Cellebration  recommend the source of the cells

Harvesting Adipose Tissue:

This is a very well-tolerated procedure in which a tiny incision is made near the lower abdomen and, using a small-bore cannula, fat is subsequently harvested. It can feel a little uncomfortable during the harvesting process but is generally well tolerated.

Isolation of AMSC from Adipose:

Following adipose harvesting, the adipose tissue will be placed in a tube with resin in it to help isolate the AMSC. Depending on the protocol this product may be immediately injected into the affected joint using imaging guidance for precision placement.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP):

PRP procedures typically begin with the collection of blood from the vein, like having blood work drawn. Depending on the protocol and the size of the joint/tissue, roughly 30 ml of blood will be collected. The blood will subsequently be placed in a carefully calibrated centrifuge and spun. Once spun the supernatant with the platelet concentrate will be isolated and reinjected, using imaging guidance for precision, into the affected joint/tissue.

Following the procedure:

AMSC / PRP Injections: A bandage will be placed over the injection site. It is common for patients to experience injection site soreness for 1-2 weeks following the injection. We ask you to avoid any anti-inflammatory medications – such as Advil, Naproxen, or Ibuprofen – following the procedure. It is acceptable to take Tylenol to reduce the soreness. We will schedule follow up visits after the procedure to track your progress and symptom scores, as well as to answer any questions that may arise.

What is Knee and Shin Pain?

Nearly one-third of all medical-related workdays lost can be attributed to arthritis-related conditions. The expert team at Cellebration offer a variety of regenerative treatments for knee and shin pain caused by osteoarthritis and other injuries and conditions. Knee and shin pain can result from a number of acute injuries – including sprains and strains – as well as chronic conditions such as arthritis. The medical team at Cellebration offer a range of regenerative therapies for knee and shin pain caused by:

  • Muscle/tendon tears and strains
  • Quad or patellar tendonitis
  • Meniscal and Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tears
  • Iliotibial (IT) band syndrome
  • Patellofemoral syndrome
  • Knee bursitis
  • Grade 1-2 Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL)/Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL) sprains
  • Quad and hamstring strains
  • Post-traumatic secondary arthritis

Osteoarthritis, sometimes called degenerative arthritis, most frequently affects joints in the hips, knees, elbows, ankles, and shoulders. It occurs when the cartilage that cushions the joints breaks down, causing the bones to rub against each other. It is because they bear so much of the body’s weight that the knees and hips are at the greatest risk of developing osteoarthritis. Symptoms of arthritis include pain, tenderness, abnormal sensations, loss of flexibility, and joint stiffness. By promoting a more sedentary lifestyle, the disease also directly impacts other serious conditions such as obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.

Treatment for Knee and Shin Pain at Cellebration Life Sciences, Inc

Traditional medicine offers few options when it comes to treating serious knee and joint pain, other than medication, physical therapy, or surgery. Total knee arthroplasty can replace a seriously damaged knee joint, but the procedure is invasive and often requires repeat procedures for the remainder of the patient’s life.  The medical team at Cellebration provide patients with alternatives to unnecessary surgeries and other traditional therapies. These techniques include the use of PRP, prolotherapy, and adult regenerative cell therapy that contains adult stem cells including adult mesenchymal stem cells (AMSC). Many patients may be candidates for total knee arthroplasty just based on the initial severity of their osteoarthritis. Several studies have shown that regenerative cell therapy has demonstrated clinical improvement in knee symptom scores even in severe osteoarthritis.

At Cellebration, we have mastered the technology for isolating the maximum number of viable stem cells from either the autologous sources of your own body or allogeneic with the matched donor to treat various patients with Knee Pain and Osteoarthritic conditions. We are a licensed, private organization with a highly technologically equipped specialized facility under development designed to isolate and enrich the viable cell stems which will be infused into the patient. Stem Cell treatment involves administration of concentrated cells in the targeted area to form colonies, adapt the properties of resident stem cells and initiate some of the lost functions that have been compromised by the disease or injury. These cells are administered through one of two methods after a considerable analysis of the patient’s unique history and medical professional’s advice.

  • Local Administration: In this mode, cells are infused directly at the targeted site of injury, which in the case of osteoarthritis, stem cells are infused directly in the joints.
  • Intravenous Administration: In this mode, cells are infused through the veins to expand blood volumes in the system, to ensure that the maximum number of cells reach the targeted area.

Once infused back in the body, these cells can be repopulated at the damaged parts of the joints. Through their strong paracrine effects, they differentiate into lost or damaged cells of the cartilage, bones, and muscle to increase production of supporting cells to improve the functioning of the  system. Thus, with our standardized, broad based and holistic approach, it is now possible to obtain noticeable improvements in patients with Knee Pain and Osteoarthritic conditions, in  symptoms as well as their functional abilities.

What is Shoulder Pain?

One of the most common causes of shoulder pain is an injury to the rotator cuff, the group of muscles and tendons that surround the shoulder joint. A rotator cuff injury can range from an impingement of the tendons to a partial or complete rotator cuff tear. These injuries can be the result of trauma or age-related degeneration of the tendons. Most traditional plans for rotator cuff injuries include rest, medications, steroid injections, or surgery. Traditional treatments like rotator cuff repair surgery or joint replacement are not always effective and require a long recovery. The expert medical team at Cellebration offers regenerative medicine alternatives, including PRP and stem cell therapy. Regenerative treatments enable your body’s healing and growth factors to repair damaged tissues, including stem cell therapy that utilizes undifferentiated cells to heal and regenerate.

  • Shoulder impingement
  • Labral tears
  • Shoulder instability
  • Adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder

What is Hip Pain?

Like any joint in the body, the hip may be predisposed to arthritis, especially with labral tears or  a history of hip trauma, which may damage the articular cartilage. While a number of injuries or conditions can contribute to hip pain, arthritis is perhaps the most common cause. Osteoarthritis is the most common joint disorder in the United States, and many people wait to seek treatment until the disease has progressed to a point where it impacts their quality of life. The expert medical team at Cellebration Life Sciences encourage patients to seek treatment early, through regenerative treatments like PRP and stem cell therapy to help prevent the development of severe arthritis. Traditional medicine offers few solutions when it comes to chronic hip pain. Many physicians resort to hip arthroplasty, or joint replacement, which does offer the potential for symptomatic relief. However, arthroplasty can be costly, includes a painful rehabilitation process, and often requires repeat arthroplasties for the rest of the patient’s life as the hardware erodes.

The goal of the expert medical team at Cellebration  is to provide patients with a regenerative treatment to alleviate the pain associated with hip arthritis and prevent the need for total joint replacement. Regenerative treatments harness your body’s own healing powers and growth factors to repair and regenerate damaged or diseased tissue and promote healing. At Cellebration, we have mastered the technology for isolating the maximum number of viable stem cells from either the autologous sources of your own body or allogeneic with the matched donor to treat various patients with Hip Pain. What is Ankle/Foot Pain?

The most common form of arthritis, Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative disease that causes the erosion of the protective cartilage in your joints. OA in the ankle is particularly common with ankle injuries. In the past, traditional medicine offered few options for treating chronic ankle conditions like osteoarthritis and ankle instability.  One of the most common tendon-related disorders of the lower extremities, Achilles Tendonitis involves inflammation and micro-tearing of the tendons that help you flex your foot. The condition causes chronic posterior heel-related pain. A common foot condition, plantar fasciitis is caused by inflammation and micro-tearing of the fascia, the thick band of tissue on the bottom of the foot. Traditional treatment options for ankle osteoarthritis and many other ankle conditions are limited to either corticosteroid injections or surgery. Corticosteroid injections can lead to atrophy and predispose the ankle tendons to future injury. Total ankle arthroplasty, or ankle replacement surgery, has a long and arduous recovery period, requiring months of painful rehabilitation.

What is Hand/Wrist Pain?

A number of acute injuries and chronic conditions can contribute to pain in the wrist, hand, and fingers. Perhaps the most frequent cause is arthritis, which is especially common in the base of the thumb. Many men and women experience the painful symptoms of arthritis and progressively lose their quality of life. Wrist sprains are another common cause of wrist pain, caused by inflammation and micro-tearing of the tendons that help flex and extend the wrist. Such injuries are common among women and men who frequently work with their hands. Currently, traditional medicine offers only two solutions for painful conditions in the joints and soft tissues that make up your wrists and hands: corticosteroid injections and surgery. Corticosteroid injections can lead to atrophy and predispose the tendons to injury. In some cases, surgery is ineffective and requires a long recovery time. Regenerative medicine is not only effective in treating arthritis and wrist sprains. The expert medical team at Cellebration can also effectively treat the following hand and wrist conditions:

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Ulnar tunnel syndrome
  • Ganglion cyst aspiration flexor/extensor tendon injuries
  • Trigger finger

What is Elbow Pain?

Like any joint in the body, the elbow may be predisposed to arthritis, especially with a history of dislocations and instability in the joint, which may damage the articular cartilage. Other common causes of elbow pain include tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow, marked by inflammation in the tendons involved in extending the wrist or flexing it.  Both conditions are common among men and women who frequently work with their hands, not just among professional tennis players and golfers.  The expert medical team at Cellebration can  provide regenerative medicine alternatives, including PRP therapy and stem cell therapy. Traditional medicine offers few solutions for elbow and forearm pain, apart from corticosteroid injections. However, many physicians avoid this treatment, as it can lead to atrophy and predispose the tendons to injury.

What is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy?

Osteoarthritis (OA) was the second most expensive condition treated in US hospitals, and for the more than 30 million adults suffering from OA, “surgery” is probably the most dreaded word. Many worry about the extensive recovery periods involved, the potential for medication dependency, and the high costs. Moreover, even after incurring the high financial burdens of surgery, patients typically experience only minimal improvement in their conditions. For these patients, Platelet-Rich Plasma or PRP therapy may provide a compelling, minimally invasive alternative over traditional treatments.

PRP therapy is created by collecting roughly 30 milliliters (ml) of the patient’s blood, which contains plasma, red blood cells, and white blood cells. The blood sample is then placed in a carefully calibrated centrifuge, which separates and concentrates the amount of plasma. This is then administered back into the patient, near the affected joint or tissue. The concentrated plasma is rich in platelets (hence the “R” in PRP), with a quantity at least two times greater than whole blood. This abundance of these cells is essential repairing the damaged cartilage, ligaments, and muscles. PRP therapy harnesses the natural healing properties of blood to rejuvenate the body, without introduction of foreign substances. The growth factors in the reinserted plasma stimulate cell growth, which in turn helps repair damaged cartilage, ligaments, and muscles. In contrast to surgery – which typically requires weeks or months of recovery – PRP therapy is a relatively smooth procedure. Patients typically feel minor soreness at the point of injection for two to three weeks. The expert medical  team at Cellebration Life Sciences schedules routine telemetry via phone to monitor progress and address any concerns that patients may have. Whether their goals are getting back to playing sports, or improving their overall mobility, patients are typically able to return to their routine with minimal disruption.
